Mooney sponsors an all-girl basketball team comprised mostly of ladies from the Volunteer Fire Department. The team is so inept that Mooney wants to withdraw sponsorship rather than embarrass the bank. Lucy elicits a promise from him that if they win the next game, the sponsorship will continue. When she breaks training, Lucy is taken off the team, but still gets into the big game and helps her team win.
